The innovative conference consisted of a combination of hands-on training on Lean Management Fundamentals and Lean Government Framework, as well as presentations, case studies, experiential learning simulations and discussions by internationally recognised industry leaders in the field. The aim of the conference participants was to promote the application and importance of "lean thinking" and "lean production" in the public sector. Dr Wolfgang Breyer also spoke at the conference on the topic of "Legal issues in procuring for lean services issues and principles open and transparent procurement. How can you get the results you want when contracting for services?", moderated by Mr Alan Mossman (General Secretary of the LIPS Leadership Committee; Director of The Change Business Ltd.). His presentation included a detailed discussion and analysis of the issues surrounding lean services and the transparency of the procurement process in Europe and Germany.
