This year, Breyer Rechtsanwälte have been awarded as “TOP LAW FIRM” (“TOP TIER”) by THE LEGAL 500 GERMANY 2021. AAL Dr. Breyer, AAL Dr. Burdinski, AAL Frohwein, AAL Verdugo Morales, AAL Dr. Regul as well as AAL Thomas are recommended by name. Please read the evaluation of THE LEGAL 500 below.
The internationally well-connected boutique firm BREYER RECHTSANWÄLTE can point to an impressively international and multifaceted portfolio of clients, which, in addition to construction-related advice to primarily private construction companies and public clients on large-scale building and civil engineering projects, also includes adjudication proceedings and international arbitration proceedings. The team is frequently called upon in connection with federal construction projects such as embassies and also handles an impressively high number of cooperatively executed construction projects as well as cross-border construction projects under FIDIC guidelines. For example, Wolfgang Breyer, who is experienced in alternative methods of execution, advises together with Michael Burdinski and Mario Verdugo Morales on contractual and project-related aspects of the Bundestag extension on the basis of an integrated project execution contract. Burdinski is regarded as an expert in private construction law and is also frequently involved in wage and hour litigation on major construction projects. Angelika Frohwein focuses on private construction law as well as architectural law.

Breyer Rechtsanwälte, Peckar & Abramson, Altana, and PS Consulting, announce the creation of Leading Construction Lawyers: The International Alliance of Construction Law Professionals
STUTTGART, PARIS, NEW YORK – January 4, 2021 – Under the banner Leading Construction Lawyers (LCL), an international construction law alliance has been formed by the preeminent construction law practices at the French law firm Altana, the German law firm Breyer Rechtsanwälte, the American law firm Peckar & Abramson and the consulting and dispute resolution firm PS Consulting.
The newly formed LCL Alliance will serve the construction and infrastructure industry’s need for multinational excellence in construction legal services and as an international forum for related leadership in addressing industry concerns.
LCL Alliance members have a client-focused and industry engaged approach. The primary goal of the LCL Alliance is to support one another in delivering outstanding results and pragmatic solutions, strategies and advice; all in the interest of serving clients of member firms in connection with a wide range of projects around the world, from infrastructure, transportation, energy, oil & gas, to industrial and building projects.
The LCL Alliance’s mission is to support member firms in offering the highest level of construction related legal services to stakeholders at all project stages throughout Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Gulf.
At the heart of LCL Alliance’s mission is collaboration among the most preeminent construction law firms and practitioners around the globe.
LCL Alliance firms and their respective lawyers are dedicated to the construction and infrastructure sector, and possess among the richest understanding and experience in Construction and Infrastructure Law.
The LCL Alliance is built on a foundation of common values and approach embraced by its founders: the pragmatic marriage of exceptional experience and capability, together with academic engagement and industry service. The LCL Alliance will support member firms as they strive to achieve superior results and offer the most practical and innovative solutions to the challenges facing clients and the international infrastructure community.
As they began working with each other, LCL Alliance founding members came to recognize that they embraced complementary cultures, customs and legal practices, as well as similar business, legal and collaborative approaches. The rare commonality found among member firms spanned borders and crossed both common law and civil code jurisdictions. Establishing a more formal alliance naturally followed.
Collectively, the LCL Alliance has more than 130 professionals and technical consultants present in various jurisdictions in Europe and the United States, with many of these individuals being highly recognized in construction and infrastructure law. Although multi-national and offering a unique alliance and working relationship between member firms, each member firm and their respective lawyers remain independent.

In the 8th edition of the recently published Kanzleimonitor, a Germany-wide empirical survey of legal departments and in-house lawyers, our two colleagues, Angelika Frohwein, LL.M. Eur. and Dr Christian Kruska, were recommended by name for the third time in a row. The law firm is pleased about the further awards in its own ranks and thankful for the trustful cooperation.
The specialist publisher JUVE also lists Breyer Rechtsanwälte as a recommended law firm in construction law in its 2020/2021 handbook. Dr. Breyer is again one of the “leading senior lawyers in construction law”. Dr. Burdinski is again highlighted as a “frequently recommended lawyer” of the firm in construction law.
This year’s JUVE publisher once again emphasises Dr. Breyer’s essential role and his “great and long-standing commitment in connection with IPD multi-party agreements. The firm advises 2 of the largest German projects to be realised according to this innovative model. This has also convinced new clients, so that Rewe and Bayer now want to realise some of their new building projects according to these standards. In addition, the firm managed to place this issue with the federal government. It has now been mandated for the extension of the Bundestag, which is also to be implemented according to a model with partnering elements.” (translated)
The law firm Breyer Rechtsanwälte says thank you for your recommendations and the trustful and good cooperation.

The law firm Breyer Rechtanwälte would like to thank you very much for the good cooperation and the confidence you have placed in us. Our aim is to continue to provide you with solution-oriented advice on all issues relating to real estate with a high level of professional competence.
AAL Angelika Frohwein, LL.M. Eur. and AAL Dr. Christian Kruska were – as in the previous year – again recommended by name in the German law firm study “Kanzleimonitor 2019/2020” for the areas of Real Estate & Construction Law. The law firm Breyer Rechtsanwälte would like to thank you very much for your recommendations and your trust in our lawyers.
The publisher JUVE lists Breyer Rechtsanwälte in the Handbook 2019/2020 again as a recommended law firm in the field of construction law. Dr. Breyer is considered one of the “leading senior lawyers in construction law”. Dr. Burdinski is often recommended as a lawyer of the law firm in construction law.
The publisher JUVE highlights in particular the pioneering role of managing partner Dr. Breyer in the field of alternative contract models. In addition to ECE’s pilot project in Hamburg, Spring Valley Park, which wants to realize Europe’s largest innovation quarter in Frankfurt on the basis of an IPD multi-party contract, is now also relying on the know-how of Dr. Breyer.
Breyer Rechtsanwälte, the Stuttgart-based law firm specializing in construction law, is further expanding the team at its headquarters. On 01.10.2019 five more specialist lawyers from the fields of construction and architectural law, lease and residential property law as well as administrative law will be joining the ranks.
The highly regarded construction lawyer from Stuttgart, Frank Stege, is moving with his team of real estate lawyers to Breyer Rechtsanwälte. The 12-strong Breyer construction law team in Stuttgart will be strengthened by Frank Stege and Mathias Hörnisch (both specialist lawyers for construction and architectural law), Dr. Martin Ludwig and Frieder Kluß (both specialist lawyers for lease and residential property law) and Stefan Oschmann (specialist lawyer for administrative law with a focus on public construction law). Breyer now has a total of 30 practitioners at its national and international locations.
We are pleased to welcome our new colleagues, thereby expanding our already strong foothold in the Stuttgart market as well as throughout Germany. Frank Stege and Mathias Hörnisch are two experienced experts, especially in the property development business, to which Breyer will devote more attention in the future. The commercial real estate law department, led by Dr. Kruska, will be particularly strengthened in the area of lease and residential property by the new additions Dr. Martin Ludwig and Frieder Kluß. Partner Verdugo Morales has been a consistently prominent figure in this field for many years. Stefan Oschmann, who will take over the area of public construction law at Breyer, will round complete the expansion of the Stuttgart team.
Breyer’s clients include many of the largest German construction companies, project developers and well-known international investors. In addition, Breyer enjoys the trust of the public sector and many medium-sized construction companies. The firm is a leader in the field of introducing and designing innovative partnering contract models based on multi-party contracts in Germany. Dr. Breyer, who gave his name to the firm, has been active worldwide for many years. At the beginning of September, Dr. Breyer successfully entered into a strategic collaboration with the law firm Hanson Bridgett based in San Francisco, California. Hanson Bridgett is the market leader in the field of IPD (Integrated Project Delivery) in the USA and Canada, the introduction of which is being driven forward by Dr. Breyer in Germany and Europe.
It is with great pleasure that we announce Breyer Rechtsanwälte has entered into a collaboration agreement with Hanson Bridgett in order to further expand our global network and to continue provide our clients with the expert legal representation that they expect.
Hanson Bridgett is a California based law firm with more than 150 attorneys in offices in San Francisco, Sacramento, the North Bay, the East Bay and Los Angeles. In addition to having a national reputation in the USA, Hanson Bridgett has a significant international footprint as well and will perfectly complement our international vision at Breyer Rechtsanwälte.
Like Breyer Rechtsanwälte in Germany and Europe, which has spearheaded the introduction of IPD to Germany and Europe by handling the first two major pioneer projects, Hanson Bridgett is an industry leader in the implementation of IPD in the USA and Canada, having executed far more projects than any other firm. As of 2018, the Hanson Bridgett IPD team had structured more than 135 pure IPD projects, as well as many more projects using IPD principles.
Our firm strives daily to not only provide the best legal services available in the construction industry, but to constantly improve the quality and variety of those services. Our collaboration with Hanson Bridgett is another example of our commitment to improve the quality and breadth of service that we provide.
For additional information about Hanson Bridgett, please visit: https://www.hansonbridgett.com/.
For the 11th time in a row, the Best Lawyers Ranking was published at the end of June 2019. The law firm Breyer Rechtsanwälte has done well this year. Dr. Breyer and Dr. Burdinski have once again been honored by Handelsblatt and the cooperation partner, Best Lawyers, as one of Germany’s best lawyers in the area of construction law.
The law firm is pleased about the new award and about your satisfaction and trust in the cooperation

Breyer | Rechtsanwälte has won the JUVE Award Law Firm of the Year Construction. At the end of October 2016 the award was conferred by JUVE, the leading German law firm handbook.
One of the reasons the award was conferred to us is that we are having a truly international construction law practice advising clients in all parts of the globe on front and back-end construction.
We would like to thank all our clients for their trust and support and contributing to our great success in winning such a sought after award in Germany.
The decision which law firm is nominated and which is awarded is based on extensive research by the editorial department of the annual JUVE handbook. In the field of Construction Law, JUVE awards law firms that develop their practice in an outstandingly dynamical way.
In „GERMANY’S BEST LAWYERS 2017“, published in June 2017 by Handelsblatt (Germany) in partnership with the renowned American publisher Best Lawyers, Dr. Wolfgang Breyer and Dr. Michael Burdinski were once again named amongst GERMANY’S BEST LAWYERS 2017 in construction law.
Everyone at Breyer Rechtsanwälte wholeheartedly congratulates both for their achievement.
It is the fifth time (2013-2017) that Dr. Breyer and the third time (2015-2017) that Dr. Burdinski have been named amongst GERMANY’S BEST LAWYERS 2017 in construction law.
Breyer Rechtsanwälte’s practice in Frankfurt has been strengthened; it will now be led by Mr. Sebastian Thomas.
He will be accompanied by three colleagues from his previous practice: Dr. iur Hannes Reiher, Stephanie Puma and Annika Kühne. As a result, the Frankfurt office will grow to seven lawyers.
The goal of the seminars is to strengthen the legal knowledge of leaders and managers in the construction sector, in the areas of private construction law, architecture law and procurement law. The workshops also aim to profoundly increase participants’ knowledge of important issues in particularly important areas of construction law, for example, the law of construction contracts.
17. August 2017 – Workshop – Liability in Construction Contracts (Dr. Breyer)
24. August 2017 – Workshop – Pricing and Claims (Dr. Breyer)
14. August 2017 – 4th. International BBB-Congress, Stuttgart (Dr. Breyer) (german).
Naturally, we also offer these and other seminars in-house. These can be either offered to your employees in a generalist form, or they can be tailor-made to address the needs of particular projects and directed at particular project teams in a workshop setting.
The goal of the seminars is to improve the knowledge of leaders and managers in the construction sector, in the areas of private construction law, architecture law and procurement law. The workshops also aim to profoundly increase participants’ knowledge of important issues in particularly important areas of construction law, for example, the law of construction contracts. Since leaders and managers in the construction business regularly encounter aspects of other branches of law, including the law of contracts for the sale of goods, the law of contracts for work and materials, social law, insolvency law and employment law, we also cover relevant parts of those legal areas. We offer you and your business bespoke solutions, whether at your offices or at our practices, at times that suit you, for example fortnightly from 5pm to 7pm. In preliminary discussions with you, we would agree on themes that we would cover and set particular focuses for discussion.
Further information can be found under the seminar-tab.
