Dr. Wolfgang Breyer is a leading German and International Construction lawyer and founder of Breyer Rechtsanwälte – one of the only the specialist construction law firms with offices located across Europe (Germany, Austria and Romania). As Managing Partner, Dr. Breyer has been a pioneer in bringing together the civil and common law jurisdictions to solve complex legal problems and he is acknowledged as one of the world’s most experienced International Construction lawyers with particular expertise in international construction contracts (FIDIC, PPC, et al.).
Dr. Breyer’s experience is far-reaching when it comes to advising most of Germany’s largest contractors on construction and infrastructure projects worldwide. Furthermore, he has advised employers and engineers globally on countless projects throughout all phases of development from project inception to claims management. Dr. Breyer also has an impeccable reputation for representing clients in contentious matters, such as in international arbitration and adjudication proceedings – he is an experienced (and often recommended) adjudicator and arbitrator for both German and international construction disputes (under ICC, DIS, FIDIC Dispute Resolution Boards, LCIA, UNCITRAL and other arbitration regimes).
Dr. Breyer also has more than two decades of experience providing construction risk management advice to German and international clients. He is a leader in providing “on-time, on-budget” construction project management consulting advice.
As a Professor of Law and thought-leader in the international construction space, Dr. Breyer has been at the forefront of bringing together the different systems from around the globe on construction law. He established the masters program in “International Construction: Law and Practice” at the University of Stuttgart (MBE), where he is also a regular lecturer. Additionally, he is a lecturer for the Civil law module of the top-ranked international construction law masters program at King’s College in London. Dr. Breyer’s influence as a practitioner and thought-leader extends further as the Chairman of both the Anglo-German Construction Law Platform (AGCLP) and International Construction Law Association (ICLA).
Internationally known as a FIDIC expert, Breyer has performed countless in-house seminars, sharing his extensive practical and theoretical knowledge of FIDIC standard-form contracts with international construction and engineering firms around the world. Dr. Breyer regularly contributes to leading Construction Law publications and seminars worldwide.
